Plastic bags, bottles, straws... all kinds of plastic products bring convenience to our lives, but have you ever thought that you might be eating plastic every day? In April 2022, the journal Environmental Science included a paper from the University of Hull in the UK. The research team sampled healthy lungs from 13 surgical patients and detected 39 microplastic particles in 11 samples.
This includes PP for takeout boxes (23%), PET for beverage bottles (18%), and PE for plastic bags (10%)!
This kind of plastic bag can not be loaded with meat for a long time polyethylene (pe) is the most common plastic bag material, because of its non-toxic, tasteless, odorless, is used for contact with food plastic bag material. The plastic bags used in supermarkets are generally high-density polyethylene. However, these bags are not recommended for taking home food, especially not for dividing meat into small portions for the refrigerator freezer. Many people are accustomed to putting vegetables, fruits or meat bought from the supermarket directly into the refrigerator. The surface of raw meat is sticky, put into the freezer layer is okay, but if you put into the freezer layer, it is easy to stick with the plastic bag, and the plastic bag for a long time in the cold environment will become very "brittle", thawing is very easy to appear in small pieces of broken micro-plastic sticking in the meat situation!
Ride with the meat you eat into the stomach of microplastics, although most of the fecal discharge, but microplastics in the human body is not "eat, pull out" so simple.
Long-term accumulation of microplastics may lead to vascular embolism, digestive tract damage, organ damage and other diseases. Inhalation of microplastic particles can lead to respiratory diseases and cancer, and nanoscale microplastics can penetrate deep into the lungs and even the bloodstream, causing damage to the heart, blood vessels and brain.
Not only raw meat does not work, boiled fish, fried chicken, spicy hot pot, etc., can not be in a plastic bag for too long. Plastic bags for a long time in contact with grease, oil and alcohol in these foods, easy to crack and leakage not to mention that it may also lead to the precipitation of harmful substances.
Consumption of contaminated food may result in symptoms such as vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness and weakness. If it is frequently consumed by mistake, it will increase the risk of hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia, and may also jeopardize children's liver and kidneys and cause precocious puberty in children.
