The Spring Festival is approaching, the Chinese New Year falls on January 29th, It will be the Year of the Snake in the zodiac sign. Visiting relatives and friends and giving gifts have become essential. However, these traditional customs often come with problems of extravagance, waste, and environmental pollution. In order to promote a low-carbon and environmentally friendly lifestyle, we should reject excessive packaging and actively choose biodegradable plastic bags and reusable biodegradable express packaging to welcome a green and environmentally friendly Spring Festival together.
In the Chinese tradition of "reciprocity", people often purchase a large number of gifts to visit relatives and friends during festivals such as the Spring Festival. However, this custom also brings about the problem of excessive packaging. We often see that in order to create an exquisite glass cup, layers of packaging are required, including cardboard boxes, tape, packaging air cushion film, and traditional plastic bags, among other materials. This not only wastes resources, but also increases the burden on consumers. It is the custom of the Chinese people to prepare New Year goods for the New Year. A large number of traditional plastic bags are packed into thousands of households. After they are used up, these wastes are discarded at will. These traditional plastic bags cannot be degraded in the natural environment. The degradation time is up to 500 years, causing great harm to the environment.
The phenomenon of excessive packaging is not limited to the gift industry, but also exists in many aspects of our daily lives. It not only infringes on the interests of consumers, causing them to bear additional packaging costs after paying the price of the goods, but also promotes a bad atmosphere, making gift giving extravagant and wasteful, and pursuing extravagance. More importantly, the waste generated by excessive packaging has caused serious pollution to the environment. These disposable packaging wastes have caused incalculable damage to soil, atmosphere, and water sources, while also posing a potential threat to people's physical health.
Entering the recycling system: Some plastic bags can be recycled and reused, entering the recycling system and processed into new plastic products. These plastic recycling not only reduce the use of crude oil, but also decrease carbon emissions, save resources and energy, and alleviate environmental pollution.
Using biodegradable bags: Under the degradation environment, it can be 100% biodegradable, not polluting the environment, reduce environmental pollution, and create an environmentally friendly environment for future humans.
Entering the household waste disposal system:
l Incineration power generation: Waste plastics that cannot be recycled will enter the household waste incineration plant for incineration power generation.
l Landfill treatment: A large amount of plastic waste is landfilled, occupying land resources and degrading slowly, forming permanent garbage that hinders groundwater infiltration and water circulation.
Entering the natural environment: Traditional plastic bags are difficult to degrade in the natural environment and eventually decompose into microplastic particles. These microplastics enter the human body through the food chain and affect human health. The specific methods include:
l Soil and water bodies: Plastic buried in soil continuously decomposes into tiny particles, and plants may absorb some of these microplastic particles when absorbing nutrients. These microplastics are transmitted through the food chain and ultimately enter the human body.
l Oceans and rivers: Plastic bags float or deposit in water, becoming the main source of pollution in oceans and rivers. Microplastics are ingested by aquatic organisms and then enter the human body through the food chain.
l The impact of plastic bags on the environment: Plastic bags are difficult to degrade and eventually decompose into microplastics, which can have serious effects on the environment and human health. Microplastics can enter the human body through the food chain and affect health. In addition, the production and processing of plastic bags also generate significant carbon emissions and pollution.
As the Spring Festival approaches, we call on everyone to start with small things around us and participate in environmental protection actions together. We can classify and recycle express packaging, and using one express cardboard box per cycle can reduce about 37 grams of carbon emissions. Use biodegradable and environmentally friendly bags that can be reused to reduce the use of disposable bags and minimize resource consumption and environmental pollution. In this way, we can not only celebrate a more low-carbon and environmentally friendly Spring Festival, but also contribute our own strength to the sustainable development of the earth.
